Albert Park - Auckland

Hanging around
Huge trees in Albert park. It is a ten minute walk from our apartment. It used to be military grounds protecting the city for WW1 and WW2.

Bay of Islands

Beautiful Water
Shark Island - Named by us, actually it marks 9 nautical miles out from Paihia

We had to drop off propane to this man who lives on this island because of the upcoming storm
One of many Lagoons
Another Lagoon
This water was amazing!
Piercy Island - Hole in the rock. We went through this on our cruise boat

Cape Brett Lighthouse
Lighthouse and where the keeper used to live. Now it is run by a generator. To get supplies up to the house and lighthouse, he used a horse and a pulley system.

Jim enjoyed an early birthday lamb supper - thanks Buff and Dave
Paihia

Brown Fur Seals, they are a very threatened species and are almost extinct.
A new hole in the rock forming
Cape Reinga Tour Ruined by torrential rain and flooding!
Farmers field flooded
Jim and the beginning of 90 Mile Beach sopping wet! I was here for 30 seconds (thank goodness Jenn's waterproof purse could shield the camera.)
Jim at the base of a Kauri Tree hollowed out by chainsaws into a staircase. This took 300 hours and is one of a kind.
Jenn at the top of the staircase
Storm hits Bay of Islands. Firemen closed down all roads leading in and out of Paihia

Jenn at the Harbour
More Flooding
What the bay looked like after the storm
Jenn with fallen tree branches
Normally the water here is flat as ice.
Debris crashing up onto the closed road
Silly Tourists....hahaha
War Canoes at Waitangi Reserve
Maori Carvings

Calm after the storm
Flagpole that marks the approximate spot where the Maroi people and British signed the treaty of Waitangi.

Treaty house, where James Busby lived, he was the first British person to live in New Zealand
